Fires Spark Fear in Krujë as Residents Return After a Difficult Night, Aulon Kalaja: Homes Were Saved

After a night filled with anxiety and efforts to battle the fires, residents of the at-risk areas in Krujë returned to their homes this morning.

Aulon Kalaja posted a video from the scene on social media, showing him alongside residents as he closely assessed the situation and the damage left by the flames.

He went to one of the homes that had been directly threatened by the fire. According to residents, firefighters’ intervention prevented the house from being engulfed in flames.

Kalaja explained that firefighters had entered the home to bring the flames under control and prevent the fire from spreading. The fact that the homes were saved brought relief and joy to residents.

Describing the situation, Aulon Kalaja said that residents were returning to their homes at that moment after spending the entire night fighting and monitoring the flames. He then set off to inspect the rest of the area.

One resident, still shaken, said: “Please, don’t, because we are…”

Kalaja said they would check the condition of the house, while a resident explained that it belonged to their neighbor, Romela.

Residents confirmed that the house had been saved, saying with relief: “Saved, thank God!”

After reaching it, Kalaja showed the rear of the property and said that this was the house they had fought to protect. He pointed out the open door through which firefighters had entered to extinguish the flames and save the house. He then also asked about the condition of the field.

Residents replied that the situation was very good and thanked God that the homes had been saved. When Kalaja asked whether they were happy, they openly expressed their joy.

Kalaja then turned his attention to the rest of the mountain, where there was still some fire farther up, although it could not be seen from where they were standing. He reported that the area was covered in smoke and that there was a strong smell in the air.

Kalaja said it was 5:40 a.m. and that they were in Krujë. According to him, this was the house where the main battle against the flames had taken place, although another two or three homes had also been at risk.

Nevertheless, this house had been the main point of danger.
