Fires in Albania: 32 reported in 24 hours, only one remains active

Over the past 24 hours, 32 wildfires have been reported across Albania. According to the Ministry of Defense, 28 have been extinguished, three remain under monitoring, while only one is still active.

A total of 426 local and municipal operational personnel have been deployed to manage the situation, along with 30 fire engines. The Armed Forces have also contributed 92 personnel, 10 vehicles, a drone and an ambulance.

In Tirana County, the fire on Mount Dajti has been extinguished, after 33 Armed Forces personnel also took part in the response a day earlier. The fire on Mount Gropa has also been put out.

Three fires in Dibër County—at Lundre-Madhesh in the Municipality of Mat, in Cerrujë in Klos, and in Selishtë—remain under surveillance. Authorities said that none of them currently poses a threat to inhabited areas.

The only active fire is located in the village of Gallatë, in the Milot administrative unit of the Municipality of Kurbin, after spreading from the territory of the Municipality of Mat. The difficult terrain is hampering the intervention of vehicles, while no threat to homes in the area has been reported.

In Shkodër County, the fires in Porav, Rragam and on Mount Tërbun have been extinguished. Fires reported in Fier-Mallakastër, Elbasan and Korçë have also been put out.

The National Civil Protection Agency continues to monitor the situation across the country, in cooperation with the prefectures, municipalities and Civil Protection structures. Operational forces and capacities remain deployed and on standby for any intervention, with the protection of citizens’ lives, homes and property as the priority.
