Fires in Albania: 10 hotspots identified by 14:00 – 7 remain active

The Ministry of Defense announced that 10 fire hotspots had been identified by 14:00 today. Of these, 7 remain active, while 2 are under monitoring.

A total of 164 operational personnel and 9 firefighting vehicles have been deployed to deal with the situation. The Armed Forces are also supporting the operations, with 70 personnel, 1 firefighting vehicle and 3 Air Force helicopters.

Active hotspots have been reported in Dajt, Lufaj, Tërbun–Gojan–Gjegjan, Gjorm i Sipërm, Tunjë e Re and Rraja e Velës.

In Dajt, the fire has reignited, but efforts to contain it are continuing with 30 Armed Forces personnel, 1 helicopter, 13 MZSH personnel and 9 AZM personnel. According to the information available, homes and residential areas are not under threat.

The hotspot in Lufaj, Mirditë, remains active but at low intensity. The Forestry Service and MZSH are working in the area.

The most difficult situation has been reported in the Gojan–Gjegjan area of Pukë, where strong winds have helped the flames spread. Field teams have focused on protecting homes, while the operation is being supported by 40 Armed Forces personnel, 1 firefighting vehicle and 2 helicopters. No threat to homes has been reported in this area either.

Meanwhile, the situation in Gurë-Lurë and Qafë Helmes remains stable, and these hotspots are being monitored. At present, there is no danger to residential areas.

The National Civil Protection Agency is continuously monitoring the situation throughout the country, in cooperation with the prefectures, municipalities and civil protection system structures.

Operational personnel and equipment remain in the field and on standby for intervention, depending on needs, with the protection of lives, homes and citizens’ property as the priority.
