Expelled from Parliament, Shehaj Barred from Entering by the Guard! MP: The Suspension Has Ended! What Kind of Dictatorship Is This? How Can You Stop an MP?

Guard officers today prevented Agron Shehaj, leader of the Mundësia Party, from entering Parliament for the plenary session.

Although his 30-day suspension ended on July 22, the Guard did not recognize the document Shehaj presented to its officers.

“Don’t push me. The suspension has ended. Let me through. It expired on July 22 after a 30-day suspension. Are you out of your minds? How can you stop me from entering Parliament? Where is the Guard commander? Am I bothering you? You are preventing me from entering Parliament, and I am bothering you?” Shehaj said during the tense moments at the entrance to Parliament.

Among other things, Shehaj asked the Guard officers to show him the order and say who had instructed them to prevent the Mundësia leader from entering Parliament.

“What kind of dictatorship is this? Show me the order. How can you stop an MP from entering Parliament? Where is the order? Show me the document. Where is the decision? How can you stop MPs from entering Parliament? Take your hands off me, take your hands off me. You will be held accountable for this. You will be held accountable. Don’t push me. Don’t push me. Show me the order, show me the decision. Where is the decision? Who ordered you to do this? Where is the order? This is madness—you have to force your way into Parliament,” Shehaj said as he sought to enter the plenary session in accordance with parliamentary rules.

From the Parliament courtyard, Mundësia MP Erald Kapri also issued a statement, saying there was only one reason Shehaj was being prevented from entering: Rama’s fear of facing Agron Shehaj.

“Rama will come to Parliament today, and they are avoiding a confrontation. We have information that Rama will attend today’s session, and Rama is afraid of Agron Shehaj. This is extremely serious. The violence is absurd. Edi Rama will bear legal and criminal responsibility for this. You cannot prevent an MP from carrying out his duties. The country is heading toward civil war,” Kapri said.
