European Democrats: Edi Rama must take responsibility for what is happening in Albania; state violence against young people is concerning! This is not Europe

The European Democrats have once again reacted to police violence against young people during yesterday’s protest at the Ministry of Education and in the streets of Tirana.

They are calling on Prime Minister Rama to assume political responsibility for the violence used.

The European Democrats cited the case of young Klevin Meta, who was bloodied by police, as well as the young man whose leg was broken by police officers and who lost consciousness.

The images and videos coming from #Tirana are deeply concerning.

We have all seen the shocking images of a young man with a severely broken leg being carried away by police officers. Reports of excessive use of police force, violent clashes and injuries throughout the capital raise extremely serious questions.

Edi #Rama must take political responsibility for what is happening. The European future of #Albania cannot be built on confrontation or the erosion of trust in democracy. It requires dialogue, accountability, respect for fundamental rights and the rule of law.
