Escaped from Police and fled abroad! Macedonia issues international arrest warrant for the young man from Kočani

Authorities have issued an international arrest warrant for Aleksandar Lazarov, the 41-year-old from Kočani, who a few days ago ran away from the premises of the Police Station in his town.

In the official announcement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs, it is stated that a central and international arrest warrant has been issued for Lazarov, the son of Metodi and Darinka, at the request of the Basic Court of Kočani. He is suspected of having committed the criminal offense provided for in Article 215, paragraph 1, in connection with Article 22 of the Criminal Code.

The incident caused considerable stir after the 41-year-old suspect managed to escape from the police building where he was being questioned.

Based on previous reports of the Ministry of Interior, on July 9, at around 11:55 p.m., officers of the Kočani Police Station, Delčevo Police Station, and the Police Unit of Makedonska Kamenica stopped two citizens from Kočani, J.J. (25) and A.L. (41), at the entrance to the village of Istibanja, Vinica.

During the inspection of the “Subaru” car with Kočani license plates, driven by J.J. and in which Lazarov was also traveling, the blue uniforms discovered and confiscated a quantity of white powdery substance.

The next day, on July 10, at 8:35 p.m., while at the Kočani Police Station, Lazarov managed to escape.

“The individual A.L., who had previously been arrested on strong suspicion of committing a criminal offense, opened a window in one of the rooms and fled,” was the statement of the Ministry of Internal Affairs at that time.

After several days of searching, the Ministry has now extended the search beyond the national territory, issuing an international arrest warrant for his location and detention.
