Eight killed in Ukraine by Russian strikes as Kyiv responds with massive drone offensive in Russia

Russia attacked Ukraine with drones, killing eight people, including three children.

The Ukrainian military then retaliated with drones, killing two people and injuring six others in the Moscow region, according to regional governor Andrei Vorobyev.

Russian authorities said hundreds of drones had been shot down, while damage was reported to homes, a warehouse and a facility at an oil refinery.

Vorobyev said that 249 drones had been shot down in the Moscow region. According to him, a 44-year-old woman was killed in Sofyino after a drone struck a three-story residential building, while five people, including two children, were injured.

The attack also caused temporary restrictions at Moscow’s airports. At Sheremetyevo, passengers were warned about the restrictions, while all arrivals and departures were suspended at Vnukovo. The restrictions were lifted on Sunday morning, although possible flight delays were warned.

Meanwhile, in Ukraine, a regional official said that eight people, including three children, were killed in Russian attacks on Saturday in the Kyiv and Sumy regions.

In the city of Fastiv, a mother and her two young children were killed in a Russian attack, while several private homes were damaged. In Vyshhorod, a child injured in another attack later died in hospital.

In the Sumy region, four people were killed when a Russian drone struck the car in which they were traveling, according to local official Oleh Hryhorov.
