DUI Condemns Vandalism of KLA Murals and Images of Martyrs in Čair

The Democratic Union for Integration (DUI) branch in Čair has responded after murals depicting Adem Jashari, Commander Teli, the KLA emblem and other symbols of the Albanian struggle were damaged.

According to the DUI, the gravity of the act is even more troubling because it occurred on the anniversary of the massacre in which Commander Teli lost his life.

“We cannot help but be concerned about the atmosphere being created in the country. A politically subservient government has created an environment in which radical nationalist elements feel increasingly emboldened to provoke Albanians, target their language and symbols, and now even the images of martyrs,” the DUI branch said in its response.

The party stressed that these developments are part of a series of actions, noting that “yesterday the Albanian language was removed from state signs in Tabanoc, while today Adem Jashari, Commander Teli and the KLA emblem have been desecrated in Čair.”

The DUI called on the Ministry of Internal Affairs to act urgently to identify the perpetrators, establish their motives and bring them to justice. “We expect an institutional response, not silence,” the statement said.

In conclusion, the DUI said that Čair has respected and will continue to respect every community and citizen, while calling for the same attitude toward Albanian history, language, symbols and martyrs.
