Dual education expands with new profiles in information and communication technology

In an effort to expand dual education and adapt vocational education to the needs of the labor market, Acting Minister of Education and Science Hajrulla Çeku has approved decisions to implement the dual curriculum for the Software Application Developer and Business Information Technology Technician profiles. These profiles will be introduced during the current school year.

The identification and standardization of the two priority profiles was carried out by the Ministry of Education and Science, with the support of the “Skills for Sustainable Employment” project, implemented by LuxDev.

The decision to select them was based on the findings of the “ICT Barometer in Kosovo” study, as well as on the interest shown by students and teachers at Vocational Education and Training Institutions (VET institutions) that offer Information and Communication Technology profiles.

The curricula were developed during 2026 in cooperation with VET institutions, representatives of the private sector, ICT-sector associations, including the Kosovo Information and Communication Technology Association (STIKK), and experts in the field. As part of this process, teaching and educational materials were also prepared for the implementation of the new profiles.

To ensure that the new curricula are implemented as effectively and to the highest possible standard, the Ministry of Education and Science will provide training for the teachers responsible for these profiles from September 1 to 15, 2026.
