Drone attack on security headquarters in Kyiv, Zelensky promises response

The central building of Ukraine’s Security Service (SBU) on Volodymyrska Street in Kyiv, opposite St. Sophia’s Cathedral, has been hit by a Russian drone.

President Volodymyr Zelensky announced the incident in a post on the X platform, emphasizing that the aircraft had targeted the office of SBU chief Oleksandr Poklad.

He confirmed that all emergency teams had been mobilized at the scene and that those affected would receive the necessary assistance.

Zelensky said he had ordered the head of the SBU to prepare a proportionate and carefully considered response as soon as conditions allowed. “I asked Poklad to give the Russians an appropriate and specific response, one that corresponds to this attack, as soon as everything is ready. Our armed forces will support this response,” he wrote.

In his statement, the Ukrainian president expressed regret over the incident: “Unfortunately, a Russian drone hit the main building of Ukraine’s Security Service on Volodymyrska Street in Kyiv, opposite St. Sophia’s Cathedral. All emergency services are at the scene, and everyone affected will receive the necessary assistance.”

Zelensky concluded his message with the words: “Glory to Ukraine!”
