Drenori Calls on Parties to Act: Government Belongs to the Winner, President Should Be Elected by Consensus

Analyst Xhavit Drenori has commented on the process of establishing new institutions after the elections, calling for responsibility from political forces and respect for the will expressed by citizens. He believes that the party that won the elections should take responsibility for forming the Government, while the election of the President requires the involvement and agreement of all parliamentary entities, “Bota Sot” reports.

According to him, the voting result has clearly expressed the citizens’ preference, and politics should therefore move without delay towards constituting the institutions, placing the general interest ahead of party calculations.

For the formation of the Government, responsibility belongs to the winning party, whereas the election of the President is an obligation of all parliamentary political entities.

The election vote has unequivocally determined the will of the citizens. The political class must now behave responsibly and enable the establishment of state institutions as soon as possible in accordance with this will.

The winning party bears the burden of creating the Government and already claims to have secured the necessary numbers for a parliamentary majority. For this reason, there is no more room for delays or obstacles that undermine institutional functioning and the interests of citizens.

On the other hand, the President of the Republic must be elected through the shared responsibility of all political forces represented in Parliament. The head of state must be a unifying figure, above party interests, with high moral and professional integrity, as well as social and institutional credibility.

Therefore, the President should be an apolitical and consensual figure who, if possible, is accepted by all Albanian political entities represented in Parliament. Only such a figure can ensure institutional unity, political stability and dignified representation of the state.

Citizens demand responsibility, not political calculations. The mandates obtained through the free vote must be translated into functional institutions and decision-making that serves the country.
