Donald Tusk raises alarm for Poland: The coming months could be decisive for security

Polish Prime Minister Donald Tusk has warned that the coming period could prove “critical” for the country’s security, saying the government is preparing for various scenarios in the face of possible threats that could come from Russia.

In a statement to the media, Tusk said Polish institutions are aware of the existing risks and are coordinating closely with NATO allies. He noted that concern is particularly high for the Baltic states, stressing that these threats should not be ignored.

These comments came after Polish and British media reported that US intelligence had warned Warsaw about a possible provocative scenario from Russia aimed at testing NATO’s resolve.

According to the reports, Polish infrastructure could be targeted through missile or drone attacks, or even through limited military operations.

Media reports say such a move would be intended to increase pressure on Ukraine’s Western allies, with the aim of limiting or suspending military aid to Kyiv, while the war launched by Russia in 2022 continues.

So far, the White House and the US State Department have not commented on the reports about the US intelligence warnings.

Next week, Polish President Karol Nawrocki is expected to take part in the NATO summit in Turkey, where alliance leaders will discuss strengthening collective defense, increasing military spending, and continuing support for Ukraine.

Similar concerns have also been expressed by other officials in Poland. Earlier, Prime Minister Tusk had said that Russia could strike a NATO member state within a few months, while Foreign Minister Radek Sikorski raised the alarm about the possibility of “false flag” operations to justify an attack on the alliance.

Warning signals have also come from the Baltic states. Intelligence services in Latvia and Lithuania have raised the alarm about possible military or hybrid provocations from Russia, including missile attacks, drone attacks, and other forms of hybrid warfare.
