Do Albanians risk being deported from Germany? AfD MP Tobias Teich clarifies his position

AfD MP Tobias Teich was a guest on the “Review” program this Sunday, hosted by Greta Topjana, where he discussed his party’s policies following its victory in Germany. During the interview, he was asked about the AfD’s position on immigration and whether Albanians could be affected by these policies.

Teich said that the largest number of immigrants do not come from Albania, but mainly from Syria and African countries, which he described as the most problematic areas in terms of migration flows.

He said that Germany spent 12 billion euros in 2024 on issues related to asylum seekers. According to him, people who come from other countries, integrate, and accept German culture and the German system are welcome and do not pose a problem.

The AfD MP stressed that this issue is not limited to Albanians, recalling that during the 1990s Germany welcomed a large number of refugees from Kosovo. Teich said he was born in 1984 and belonged to a generation that witnessed the arrival of many people fleeing conflicts and seeking safety.

He added that during that period he had contact with many Kosovars and learned about Kosovo’s history from young people. Later, he said, he also got to know Albania and learned more about the country.

Teich spoke positively about the Albanian community in Germany, particularly when it comes to statistical data on crime. He stressed that he has no problems with people who have come from Albania.

“We have no problems with people who have come from Albania. The largest number of immigrants come from Syria and African countries, not Albania,” he said.

The MP clarified that his positive assessment of Albania was personal and that he could not necessarily speak on behalf of the entire party. “I can say positive things, and in this case I am speaking for myself. We have a positive opinion of Albania,” Tobias Teich said.
