Divjaka Protests for the 31st Night: We Will Not Accept a Merger with Lushnja

For the 31st consecutive night, residents of Divjaka gathered in the city’s main square to protest the proposal by the Socialist majority for a new administrative-territorial map. Under the proposal, the Municipality of Divjaka would be dissolved and merged with the Municipality of Lushnja.

During the gathering, citizens called on other residents to join the protests in the coming days, with the aim of increasing pressure on the executive.

“We must defend Divjaka, but to do so, we need to be even more numerous. Only by standing united can we succeed in defending our Divjaka,” one of the participants in the square declared. The protesters also called for the removal from office of the mayor of the Municipality of Divjaka, Josif Gorrea.

The gathering took place under unusual circumstances, as the square was left without electricity. The protesters raised suspicions about the outage, emphasizing that darkness covered only the area where the protest was being held, while the city’s other neighborhoods continued to receive electricity normally.
