Analyst Andi Bushati, a guest on the “Të Paekspozuarit” program on Vizion Plus, said that Rama’s invitation to students for dialogue had no real value and that there was no willingness to engage in dialogue.

Bushati said that, in order to remain in power, Rama would become even more repressive, because “a dictator cannot hold on to his seat by easing the regime.”

“There is absolutely no willingness for dialogue here. Rama puts the issue of dialogue on the table, and they throw chairs at him. What happened in 130 days that these citizens went from flamingos and flowers to stones and Molotov cocktails?

A responsible leader in a democracy listens even when he does not engage in dialogue. He reflects even when he does not engage in dialogue. What happened in Albania? Do you remember their slogans?

‘Albania is not for sale,’ ‘Albania does not belong to one man,’ ‘Rama in prison, Berisha in prison, Balluku in prison.’ What did those people see? They saw that when they called for Balluku to go to prison, these people not only kept Balluku in office, but, as Fiks Fare showed, Balluku was running half the government. Is this called reflection or abuse? What did those people see? They saw that while they were asking for a little more democracy, it emerged that Rama’s former adviser, who had also become head of SHISH, not only mentioned Gysi, but put the security apparatus at Gysi’s service. How should someone who comes out with flowers react? Should they speak up for Gysi? Or should they pick up stones and Molotov cocktails?

This is the real problem. If you look at it from Rama’s perspective, does he need dialogue? Does he need to reflect on what the flamingos told him? Absolutely not. There is no dictator who can survive by easing the regime. If a dictator wants to remain in his seat, he can only move toward strengthening the regime.
