Devastating storms and floods hit Greece, Turkey, India and Pakistan

Greece faced a powerful storm that caused significant damage and disrupted services, with Athens and Piraeus as the hardest-hit areas.

Furious winds and hail knocked down numerous trees, while a construction site saw its scaffolding collapse, blocking traffic in the area. Torrential rain flooded various roads and the tram service in Piraeus stopped after power lines were damaged.

By late evening, the fire department had logged more than 150 calls for assistance, most of which related to fallen trees, flooding, and objects posing a danger.

Turkey was also hit by severe weather, with heavy rains flooding the capital Ankara. Dozens of streets were submerged, cars were swept away by currents or sank, and emergency crews worked to rescue stranded drivers and isolated citizens.

In South Asia, the situation remains alarming. In India, intense monsoon rains have brought flooding and landslides in several states, forcing thousands of people to abandon their homes and severely damaging roads. Pakistan also continues to suffer the severe consequences of monsoon rains.

Floods have covered entire regions, destroying homes and agricultural plots, as authorities continue rescue and evacuation missions in the hardest-hit areas.
