Day 92 of the Protest: Citizens Demand Rama’s Resignation! They Warn of Massive Participation in September and October

Today marks the 92nd day of the citizens’ protest against the government and Prime Minister Edi Rama, as people continue to gather in Tirana, demanding the prime minister’s resignation and a change to the political system.

The protest continues after 91 consecutive days of civic mobilization, during which protesters have marched from Skanderbeg Square toward the Prime Minister’s Office and conveyed messages against the government.

For more than three months, citizens have gathered in the square every day, calling for the removal of Prime Minister Edi Rama and his government.

They say they will continue the protest until their demands are fulfilled.

Another important demand is the formation of a technical government with a 12-month mandate. According to the protesters, this government should have a transitional role and create the conditions for changes to the political and electoral systems.

The list of demands also includes legal and institutional changes, while the protesters are calling for the cancellation or repeal of several laws that affect the interests of Albanian citizens.

The demands also include changes to the legal framework concerning protected areas, cultural heritage, strategic investments and other issues that the protesters consider important to the public interest.

The citizens say they will continue to remain in the square and demand that their requests be met.
