Day 38 of the protest in Divjaka as citizens continue opposing merger with Lushnja

The protest in Divjaka has entered its 38th day, as residents oppose the administrative-territorial reform that provides for the merger of the municipality with Lushnja.

Every evening, the group of citizens who remain engaged in the protest gathers in the square, despite the low number of participants. They oppose the loss of local institutions and warn that such a change could undermine Divjaka’s identity, consolidated over the past three decades.

The protesters say they have not been deterred by interventions, pressure or threats, and continue to repeat their demand: “Divjaka municipality.”

After the rally ended, they marched through the city’s streets, calling for Divjaka to retain its status as a municipality and opposing its inclusion in a joint administrative unit with Lushnja.
