Danish intelligence sounds alarm: Russia recruiting citizens for acts of sabotage, targeting defense industry

The Danish Security and Intelligence Service (PET) has sounded the alarm over a serious threat from Russia, which is planning sabotage operations on Danish territory. The country’s defense industry is the primary target of these hostile actions.

According to information from the authorities, the tactics used by the Russian intelligence services are straightforward: they are contacting ordinary individuals through social media platforms, paying or manipulating them to take photographs. The materials collected in this way are then used to organize well-structured attacks.

Denmark is one of Kyiv’s strongest allies, having sent billions of euros in military aid since the conflict began in 2022. This stance has made the country a priority target for the Kremlin’s hybrid operations.

The warning comes amid heightened tensions across the continent. Just days ago, European Union member states considered new sanctions against Moscow after a drone equipped with explosives was discovered in Germany. Senior EU officials described the incident as “state-sponsored terrorism.”

Counterintelligence experts stress that these risks are no longer the stuff of spy movies but represent a tangible, everyday threat requiring maximum vigilance.
