Convicts in Macedonia Engage in Seven-Day Cleanup of Main and Regional Roads

For one week, convicted persons from almost all prisons in the country will participate in the action to clean the main and regional roads, announced the Directorate for the Execution of Sanctions.

The seven-day initiative started today and will continue until 22.07.2026. It is carried out by the Directorate for the Execution of Sanctions and PE Roads of Macedonia, based on the Memorandum of Cooperation signed for engaging the labor of convicts. The goal is to maintain cleanliness on the main and regional roads throughout the territory of the Republic of Macedonia.

The action includes Idrizovo Prison, Shtip Prison, Prilep Prison, Kumanovo Prison, Bitola Prison, Skopje Prison, Gevgelija Prison, Strumica Prison and Struga Prison.

Today’s activity was attended by the deputy director of PE Roads of Macedonia, Aleksandar Shukovski, as well as Jovan Petrov and Ljupço Nastoski from the Cabinet of the Director of the Execution of Sanctions.

According to the Directorate, the convicts working on the main and regional roads are engaged by the institutions where they are serving their sentences and remain constantly under the supervision of prison police members.
