Client chokes on döner, Turkish restaurant owner saves him with the Heimlich maneuver

A customer at a restaurant in Turkey found himself in a dangerous situation when a piece of döner kebab blocked his airways. The immediate intervention of the restaurant owner made it possible to save him.

The incident occurred in Reyhanlı, in Hatay province, and was captured by the restaurant’s security cameras.

The video shows the man sitting at a table with his family. At one point, he begins having trouble breathing, and his wife, along with the children, tries to help him.

As the customer’s condition worsened, the owner, Sami Sakin, realized that he was choking and approached him to perform the Heimlich maneuver.

After several attempts, Sakin managed to clear the man’s airways, allowing him to breathe again.

According to reports by Turkish media, the owner had learned how to perform the Heimlich maneuver while he was still in school.

“The Heimlich maneuver immediately came to mind. After the third or fourth attempt, I managed to clear his airways and he came around,” Sakin said, describing the moment of the rescue.

The incident ended without serious consequences for the customer, while the camera footage captured the tense moments of the intervention.
