Cleaning operation begins in Tirana as Veliaj regains authority over services

Following the mayor Erion Veliaj’s full restoration of authority, the Municipality of Tirana immediately launched a wide-ranging cleaning operation in the city’s most critical areas. The move follows recent changes in the distribution of the mayor’s powers.

The teams involved have been deployed in areas including Bregu i Lumit, Babrruja and the Kamza Bridge. The initiative involves numerous personnel from the General Directorate of Cleaning and Greenery, the company Eco Tirana, the Municipal Police and other entities operating under the institution.

Officials from the Municipality of Tirana said the interventions would be carried out regularly, focusing periodically on areas identified as the most polluted.

Speaking during an inspection at Bregu i Lumit, local officials confirmed that the work would continue. They stressed that the operation had been underway for several days in partnership with municipal enterprises, following instructions issued by the mayor. According to them, the cleaning campaigns will be conducted daily and will include all areas considered problematic.

Beyond the involvement of municipal employees, representatives of the institution highlighted the importance of public participation. They called for greater cooperation from the community so that public spaces can be kept clean.
