Clash between Gashi and Isufaj at the KPC: Members no longer report to the chief prosecutor

The Chief Prosecutor of the Special Prosecution, Blerim Isufaj, presented the 2025 report to the Kosovo Prosecutorial Council today.

During the session, as KPC members asked him questions, the council’s chair, Arian Gashi, intervened in the discussion.

“You are not here to ask us questions. We are here to ask you questions. You are here to report and answer the questions asked by each member,” Gashi declared.

Isufaj replied that he was ready to answer the questions and present his arguments.

“I will answer the questions and give you my argument,” he said.

Gashi immediately responded, stressing that KPC members were not there to report to the chief prosecutor.

“Fine, but do not ask questions and put them to the members, because the members are not here to report to you,” the KPC chair added.

Isufaj rejected the remark, reminding Gashi that he himself had previously been chair.

“Chair, I was chair before you, I know. I am not asking anyone any questions. What question did I ask?” Isufaj asked.

After the debate, Gashi told the chief prosecutor that the practice of members reporting to the chief prosecutor belonged to the past and that he should listen.

“The time when members reported to the chief prosecutor has passed. Please, I am speaking, just listen. Now it is time for the chief prosecutor to report to the members and the council and answer the questions asked by the members,” Gashi concluded.
