City of Skopje denies presence of bacteria in water: Calls it an orchestrated attack

The City of Skopje has rejected claims that the bacterium Escherichia coli was detected in the water supplying the capital. The institution described this as an orchestrated attack and announced that it would publish complete information later.

This position was conveyed to “Lokalno” following concerns that the presence of this bacterium could make Skopje’s water unfit for consumption.

The Food and Veterinary Agency and the Institute of Public Health have yet to respond on the matter.

Public Enterprise “Water Supply and Sewerage – Skopje” announced yesterday that, during the day, the Sanitary Control Department had collected 42 samples from Skopje’s water supply network. Four of them were taken from the Nerezi-Lepenec well section. The samples were examined through physicochemical and microbiological analyses in laboratories accredited under the ISO 17025:2018 standard.

According to Public Enterprise “Water Supply and Sewerage – Skopje,” the inspection is carried out in accordance with the regulations in force governing the safety and quality of drinking water. The analysis results confirm that the water in Skopje’s supply system is fit for drinking./Telegrafi/
