CIA chief floats idea for Trump-Putin-Zelensky meeting to end the war

During his visit to Moscow at the beginning of this week, CIA Director John Ratcliffe proposed organizing a trilateral meeting involving U.S. President Donald Trump, Russian President Vladimir Putin and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The information was published by Axios, which cited two sources familiar with the matter.

According to these sources, Ratcliffe’s trip was not solely intended to present this proposal. He is also expected to have explored the possibility of Russian intelligence officials influencing Vladimir Putin in order to bring him back to the negotiating table with Ukraine.

The talks would take place with the mediation of the United States, as part of efforts to find a solution that would pave the way for an end to the conflict.

The initiative comes at a time when the resumption of dialogue between Moscow and Kyiv remains one of the U.S. administration’s main diplomatic priorities.
