CEC says when election results are expected to be certified

The Central Election Commission is waiting for the complaints review to be completed and for the competent institutions to make the relevant decisions before proceeding with the announcement of the final results of the June 7 elections for the Kosovo Assembly. This was announced by the CEC spokesperson, Valmir Elezi.

He explained that the CEC’s дальнейшие actions will depend on the content of the decisions issued by the relevant bodies, if they foresee specific obligations for the election institution.

“The CEC is waiting for the complaints review to be completed and for the decision-making of the relevant institutions. It remains to be seen whether their decisions contain concrete obligations for the CEC to implement and then proceed with the act of announcing the final results. If these decisions do not contain such a thing, then once they become final, the CEC is immediately ready to announce the final results,” Elezi said.

Meanwhile, he emphasized that the announcement of the final results does not end the entire election process, since the parties also have the right to file complaints against this action.

“The announcement of the final results does not conclude the election process, as the parties have the right to appeal these results. The CEC, similarly to now, must wait for the appeal deadline and the decision-making of the relevant institutions, implement their decisions if they contain obligations, and then proceed with the certification of the results,” he said.

On the other hand, candidates for deputies from the Democratic Party of Kosovo, Bekim Haxhiu and Qëndrim Kryeziu, yesterday appealed to the Supreme Court, seeking a full recount of the votes for the candidates of this party, after the Electoral Complaints and Appeals Panel (ECAP) had rejected their complaints two days earlier.
