Socialist Party MP Erion Braçe commented on Marjana Koçeku’s departure from the PS.
During an interview on the “Albania Live” program, he stressed that it is simpler for Koçeku to break away from a party, while about himself he said that even if he declared himself independent, no one would believe it.

“It is not a matter of doubt. Even if I say I am independent, no one believes me, because I have been in the PS since its founding. My independent departure would be meaningless. As long as I am in the Assembly and serving as an MP, I have no reason to resign. I have the place where I can do everything. As long as I have this opportunity, I have no reason to go out in protest. It seems banal for me to go out in protest, when I have the place where I can do everything. Moreover, I do not want to benefit politically from the protest. I do not want to act like some of my colleagues on the right, to go there and have no one ask me anything.
Her decision was her decision. It is easy for her to leave a political affiliation and go out there on the other side. They may even believe that she is independent, but no one believes me. She has been active as an activist, I have not been active like that. I have been active as a socialist”, Braçe said.
