On the occasion of this jubilee, contributors to the newspaper shared their assessments and thoughts on the role “Bota Sot” has played over the years, as well as the values that, in their view, have kept it steady and widely read by the Albanian public.
According to them, “Bota Sot” has played the role of a bridge between Albanians in the diaspora and those in Albanian lands, reflecting the main political, social, and cultural developments and following the transformations that the digital era has brought to journalism.
“Bota Sot,” the voice of Albanians
Political analyst from Albania and newspaper contributor Ilir Vata, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the founding of “Bota Sot,” praised its historical importance and the path of development it has followed in the Albanian sphere.
“On June 26, ‘Bota Sot’ marks the 31st anniversary of its founding. As a contributor to the newspaper ‘Bota Sot,’ I highly value its development over these 31 years and its adaptation to the major changes that Albanian journalism has experienced.
‘Bota Sot’ led the Albanian press in the diaspora, becoming an important window for informing Albanians everywhere in the world. Even though it was not physically distributed in Albania, it remained a connecting bridge among Albanians, reflecting Albanian reality throughout the region. The internet era weakened print media on paper, but the online page of ‘Bota Sot’ made it even more universal and more accessible,” he said in his assessment for “Bota Sot”.
Vata also emphasized that “Bota Sot” stands out for its truthfulness, credibility, impartiality, and national spirit, while also underlining the wide range of topics it covers, from breaking news and reporting to analysis, politics, culture, art, and ethnogenesis.
“‘Bota Sot’ is characterized by truthfulness, credibility, impartiality, and national spirit. The variety of topics it covers, from fast and coherent news to reporting, analysis, politics, culture, art, and ethnogenesis, makes it one of the most consolidated media outlets today, even one of the most read and most followed in the Albanian world. Its presence on the market for 31 years proves that ‘Bota Sot’ has grown, has matured, and remains a serious and coherent media outlet.
I have had the privilege of being part of it with a modest contribution, to enrich its content. It is precisely the voice of journalists, analysts, citizens, and politicians that has made ‘Bota Sot’ truly the voice of Albanians,” he said.
He further underlined that the newspaper has also been the voice of political prisoners in Albania.
“‘Bota Sot’ has also been the voice of political prisoners in Albania. Allow me, on behalf of the Party of Denied Rights (PDM), as its chairman and as a journalist, to wish ‘Bota Sot’ a happy 31st anniversary of its founding. Congratulations and further success!” Vata concluded.
Muçiqi: One of the most trustworthy Albanian media outlets
On the other hand, another contributor, journalist and observer of developments in the country Ismail Muçiqi, praised “Bota Sot” as one of the most trustworthy and most widely read media outlets in Albanian lands.
According to Muçiqi, since its founding, the newspaper’s editorial staff has remained faithful to the national and patriotic cause of Albanians.
“The newspaper ‘Bota Sot’ is one of the most trustworthy and most widely read media outlets in Albanian lands. This newspaper, namely the editorial newsroom of the journalists of ‘Bota Sot,’ has, since its founding, remained faithful to the national and patriotic cause of the Albanian nation.
In particular, the newspaper ‘Bota Sot’ was a guide to activity against the Serbian authorities and against all those who worked against the freedom and independence of Kosovo,” he said.
In the end, Muçiqi highlighted the importance of editorial policy and, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary, wished the newspaper to continue its professional journey in service of the nation and the state.
“One of the main values was and remains its editorial, professional, and national policy, which has kept the newspaper alive and, at the same time, embodied its readership to the proper degree. Therefore, on the occasion of the 31st anniversary of the publication of the newspaper ‘Bota Sot,’ on behalf of colleagues, journalists, opinion writers, and many intellectuals who read the newspaper ‘Bota Sot,’ we congratulate you on this anniversary with the hope and wish that this newspaper will continue its professional journey in the interest of the state and the nation,” Muçiqi concluded for “Bota Sot”.
