U.S. Treasury Secretary Scott Bessent said that President Donald Trump’s administration would implement the agreement on Russian oil using the legal authority at its disposal.

In an interview with Fox News, Bessent rejected claims that certain legislative initiatives in Congress could hinder implementation of the agreement.
“We will implement it with all the legal authority we have. Members of Congress who say that a previous bill or Lindsey Graham’s bill prevents us from doing this are wrong,” he said on the “Fox & Friends” program.
Bessent argued that the agreement would be in the interest of American citizens, as it could contribute to lower oil prices.
“Lower oil prices are a good thing for Americans,” the Treasury secretary said.
President Donald Trump had announced the agreement on Friday.
