Berisha: This summer exposed the “narco-state”; Agasi is the most dangerous mafioso after Edi Rama

At a meeting of the Democratic Party’s National Council, leader Sali Berisha accused Prime Minister Edi Rama, saying that events in recent months had highlighted how what he described as the “narco-state” operates.

Berisha devoted part of his speech to the situation involving the fires during the summer. According to him, the funds allocated for civil emergencies were spent on organizing concerts, with the aim of neutralizing protests. He also said that, alongside the areas engulfed by flames, Socialist Party membership cards were burned by the party’s own members in Poliçan, Divjakë, Dimal and Tirana.

Berisha also spoke about what he described as the failure of technological propaganda, citing the case of Ermal Beqiraj and the fact that million-euro tenders continued to be awarded even after investigations had begun. He went on to address the arrest of businessman Ergys Agasi, whom he described as “the most dangerous mafioso in Albania and Southeastern Europe after padrino Rama.”

The DP chairman declared that the image of the new justice system had also been damaged this summer. He claimed that the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK) is controlled by the prime minister and referred to the release from custody of former minister Ilir Beqaj. Berisha compared this case with those of Saimir Tahiri and Vangjush Dako, saying that none of the stolen money had been returned to citizens.

At the end of his speech, Berisha referred to the “Albanian Files” case, describing the 523 projects included in it as “523 reasons to send Rama to prison.” He warned that Albanians could face a €500 million fine because of the government’s unilateral interventions in the Vlora Airport project.
