Berisha accuses Rama over the violence at the protest in front of Parliament: Tear gas, water and force were used against protesters

The Democratic Party has reacted following the clashes that took place at today’s protest in front of Parliament, condemning the violence that was used.

In a video message, the head of the blue headquarters, Sali Berisha, declared that “On Edi Rama’s orders, today the narco-police used toxic substances, expired tear gas, bear spray, pyrotechnic substances, water cannons, dragging, and bloodied peaceful protesters with unrestrained ferocity.”

According to him, “They proved that they are capable and ready to commit any crime and any act to protect their seats. Dozens and dozens of protesters were forcibly and violently taken away to be transferred to police station cells.

Once again, we call for the immediate release of all those detained, peaceful protesters who were protesting in accordance with their constitutional right and the European Convention on Human Rights. We strongly condemn the brutal violence used against them and call on Albanian citizens to unite, show solidarity, and support with all their potential the unstoppable success of the most powerful youth civic movement the country has known since the ’90s,” the DP’s official statement said.
