Berisha Accuses Rama Over the Protest and Its Symbolism: Resign, Don’t Use the Flamingo, Put Balluku and Agaçi There Instead

During a communication with citizens on Facebook, Democratic Party chairman Sali Berisha leveled strong accusations against Prime Minister Edi Rama, claiming that he is trying to undermine the citizens’ protest and the symbolism accompanying it.

According to Berisha, Rama “hates young people” and has declared “the algorithm the black bogeyman,” while instead of addressing citizens’ demands, he is attacking bloggers, influencers, and those taking part in the protest. He also said that the prime minister has targeted figures linked to the protest and, according to him, has even tried to smear former KLA fighter Tahir Sinani simply because the KLA flag was also displayed at the protest. The PD leader further mocked Rama’s attempt to use the flamingo symbol, which has become an identifying sign of the protest.

At the end of his statement, Berisha called on the prime minister to step down and resign.

“He attacked bloggers and influencers, declared the algorithm a black bogeyman, focuses on dark stains, attacks protest figures, or declares a lady non grata because she had a photo with Ahmadinejad. Meanwhile, when I was prime minister, he went and traveled to Iran where he took photos with Ahmadinejad. He went so far as to smear one of the heroes of the KLA, Tahir Sinani. He wanted to smear the KLA, with the only fault being that at this protest the KLA flag also appears. The man who on the one hand tries to fight the protest by putting the flamingo on his T-shirt or posting it on Facebook has no moral right. I tell him this: you may print Belinda, Agaçi, drugs and cocaine on your T-shirt, but never the flamingo. Next time, put them in your main Facebook photo, believing that in this way you are becoming friendlier with them. Rama, to conclude, resign, because you are the enemy of Albanian youth. You are arrogant, cynical, you hate them and you want them to leave Albania,” he said.
