Belinda Balluku has taken the prime minister hostage”/ Gazment Bardhi: She still determines appointments, tenders and concessions

Gazment Bardhi, head of the parliamentary group of the Democratic Party, accuses Prime Minister Edi Rama of having fallen under the control of former Deputy Prime Minister and former Minister Belinda Balluku.

In a reaction posted on social media, Bardhi claims that Balluku continues to effectively run the Ministry of Infrastructure and the institutions under its authority. According to him, she continues to wield influence over hiring, tender winners and the awarding of concessions.

Bardhi says that Belinda Balluku, whom he describes as “Rama and Karakaçi’s boss,” should not be free to go to the gym, but should be behind bars.

In his reaction, the DP lawmaker refers to an investigation by the “Fiks Fare” program, which, according to him, brought to light what had long been known. Bardhi claims that, after taking Edi Rama hostage, Balluku continues to de facto govern the Ministry of Infrastructure and its subordinate institutions.

He criticizes the Special Prosecution Office (SPAK), saying that 20 days have passed since new information was published about the investigation into Balluku for corruption, money laundering and concealment of assets, while the law on her arrest has still not been implemented.

According to Bardhi, it is unacceptable for a person facing 14 criminal charges to continue moving around freely and even be able to go to the gym. He calls on SPAK to enforce the law and the standard established by the institution itself in December 2025.

The head of the DP parliamentary group argues that SPAK cannot tell citizens that when Balluku faced six charges, she had to go to prison, whereas now that the charges number 14, she can continue living her life normally. To him, this situation is unacceptable.

Bardhi emphasizes that the law must be applied equally to everyone and that Albanians deserve a justice system that recognizes no untouchable individuals. He adds that the opposition is demanding only that the law be applied according to the same standard for every individual, because in a state governed by the rule of law, power must not serve as a shield and no one can stand above the law.
