Bekteshi: The six LDK MPs backed by Grenell are jeopardizing the functioning of the state

Albanian-American activist Ramazan Bekteshi has spoken out against Richard Grenell’s public support for the six LDK MPs who have announced that they will not vote for Bekim Sejdiu as President of Kosovo.

According to Bekteshi, this group of MPs represents “dynamite for the LDK and the state,” as its stance is obstructing the formation of the government and the election of the president.

His reaction contains strong criticism of Grenell and the LDK MPs. Bekteshi has raised questions about their political aims and claimed that, in cooperation with part of the opposition, they could plunge Kosovo back into another institutional deadlock, reports “Bota sot.”

Bekteshi described the group backed by Grenell as a force acting against the LDK and the state. He said Grenell had publicly expressed support for Avdullah Hoti and his colleagues, describing them as great friends of America.

The Albanian-American activist has asked whether Grenell is supporting a group of revolutionaries or, as he calls them, “putschists and state assassins.” According to him, the upcoming elections will provide the answer. Bekteshi claims that this group, together with part of the opposition, is chiefly responsible for the risk that Kosovo could return to an undesirable situation because of egotism and resentment.

He also stated that the person he describes as wise and innocent-looking, who came to power through a coup with the help of the PDK, AAK and Grenell, appears to be seeking power again with the support of his “friend” Grenell and several figures who, according to him, want to divide the LDK. Bekteshi also included the capital’s mayor in this group.

Bekteshi said that these MPs had also ignored a letter from several Albanian-American activists who, during the 1990s, had worked with their American friends for Kosovo’s unconditional independence. He stressed that these activists continue to be underestimated by several parties in Kosovo.

He went on to accuse them of bringing forward infiltrators and paid individuals who, according to him, aim to turn Kosovo into a dysfunctional state and incite Albanians to clash with one another. Bekteshi also criticized several television studios and online portals where, he claimed, poison is spread against Kosovo, while criticism of the enemy and discussion of how the state should function are absent.

He said that freedom of speech had been misunderstood in the name of democracy and that this was harming the state, although, according to him, the state continues to survive.
