Begaj Welcomes Belgian Ambassador, Discusses Bilateral Cooperation and Path Toward the EU

On Wednesday, President of the Republic Bajram Begaj met with the Ambassador of the Kingdom of Belgium to Albania, Olga Cogen, who presented her credentials.

The head of state welcomed the opening, for the first time, of an Embassy of the Kingdom of Belgium based in Tirana.

During the meeting, the two sides reaffirmed their commitment to further deepening the excellent relations between the two countries, underpinned by shared European values, close political dialogue, and well-established cooperation within NATO and other international organizations.

Begaj also praised Belgium’s continued support for Albania’s European integration process and stressed that membership in the European Union remains a priority for the country.

The President assured Ambassador Cogen that the Office of the President and Albanian institutions would support her in successfully carrying out her diplomatic mission in Albania.
