BDI: Developments in Kosovo are being closely monitored; the KLA deserves dignity and institutional respect

The Democratic Union for Integration (BDI) says it is closely monitoring political and institutional developments in the Republic of Kosovo, with particular emphasis on issues related to the protection of important values of the Albanian nation, demonstrated across generations, the BDI press office reports.

According to BDI, the Kosovo Liberation Army is one of these values in contemporary Albanian history, while its role in Kosovo’s liberation and statehood was decisive.

The party emphasizes that the KLA is a common national asset belonging to all Albanians and standing above party divisions, immediate interests and political differences. BDI maintains that it united Albanians at the most important moments of their recent history, and therefore its contribution must be treated with responsibility, dignity and institutional respect.

BDI calls on the authorities of the Republic of Kosovo to find a way out of the situation while protecting the values of the KLA, the dignity of its members and the country’s general interest.

“At this moment, the political interests of the day must be replaced by the national interest, unity and state responsibility, so that what the KLA represents for the Albanian nation and the history of Kosovo can be preserved,” BDI said in its statement.
