BDI: Claim that VLEN has dissolved is propaganda; Alternativa still registered as a separate entity

The Democratic Union for Integration has once again reacted to the VLEN coalition, stating that Alternativa remains registered as a separate party in the Central Register. According to BDI, Zekirija Berisha is listed as the party’s chairman in the official documents.

BDI claims that Berisha, who currently serves as chief of staff to Minister Bekim Sali, was registered in this position without the change being made public and without Alternativa’s membership being notified.

“The documents reveal another scandal: Alternativa’s leaders have replaced the party chairman without informing either the membership or the public,” BDI said in its response.

Ali Ahmeti’s party is seeking clarification about the circumstances of this change, asking when Zekirija Berisha was elected, which party body approved the decision, why it was kept secret, and whether Alternativa members are aware of who legally leads their entity.

According to BDI, this is a “scandalous and most likely unprecedented” situation, since the chairman of a party was changed in official documents while the public was not informed of the fact.

In its response, BDI links the case to statements about the unification of Albanian parties within VLEN. It claims that this “dissolution” is not reflected in the parties’ legal status. “BESA continues to exist with Bilall Kasami as chairman. Alternativa continues to exist with Zekirija Berisha as chairman. They have this so-called ‘dissolution’ only for conferences and propaganda,” the statement said.

BDI concludes its response by accusing VLEN of ensuring that “the parties, chairmen, seals and interests continue separately,” while describing the claim of unification as “a deception from the foundation to the top.”
