Bardhi on protest: DP has supported it since day one, “Berisha to prison” chants don’t worry me

The “Prime News24” show on News24 was accompanied by discussions and clashes over political developments and the civic protest.

Gazment Bardhi, head of the DP parliamentary group, said the Democratic Party has supported the protest and that a politician’s responsibility is to listen to citizens’ demands.

During the conversation with journalist Klodiana Lala, the protesters’ chants were also discussed, which for 124 days have demanded “Rama to prison, Berisha to prison.” Bardhi said these slogans do not concern him.

“I consider it a civic protest, and precisely for this reason it is even more valuable and productive. As for DP supporters, I must say they have been part of it from the start. From the first day until now they have supported and taken part in the protest. I see no problem, because someone may also chant ‘Gaz Bardhi to prison.’ This is related to the enforcement of legality,” Bardhi declared.

Klodiana Lala asked whether the opposition feels delegitimized, noting that the protesters’ main demand is the removal of Edi Rama, while another chant concerns the arrest and imprisonment of Sali Berisha.

“I do not feel like a delegitimized opposition member. On the contrary, I feel appreciated that citizens are raising causes that the opposition has denounced for years,” Bardhi replied.
