Klevis Balliu has stressed that Albania needs to leave words behind and move to actions, by adopting a resolution recognizing the Serbian genocide in Kosovo and engaging in international lobbying to document the war crimes.

According to him, the continued inaction of the government and parliament has caused a serious problem, as Aleksandar Vučić exploits Albania’s refusal to deny crimes against Albanians. When visiting international offices, Vučić presents as evidence the Albanian parliament’s failure to vote on the resolution and Edi Rama’s position to argue that there was no genocide in Kosovo.
Balliu underscores the essential distinction between statements and actions. He insists that, after adopting the resolution, it should also be requested from friendly countries, and adds that concrete lobbying is necessary to protect the historical truth, which risks being distorted by various interests. According to him, if this passive approach continues, the day may come when people speak of a genocide of Albanians in Serbia, because falsehood can spread if it is paid for enough.
He stressed the need to raise funds to support soldiers, leaders, and anyone unjustly facing justice in relation to the Kosovo Liberation Army and the war to liberate the country from the brutality of the Milošević regime. Also, funds are needed to lobby internationally and to highlight the crimes committed, which include babies killed in their cradles, rapes of minors, children executed in front of their parents, and entire villages burned.
For Balliu, it is shameful to deny genocide in the face of these facts. Even more shameful, he added, is the silence of those who do nothing to correct this situation. Nevertheless, he welcomed the Albanian state’s declaration on a national issue, but insisted that it remains just words. According to him, the reason we have reached this point is precisely the habit of being content with beautiful and patriotic statements, without accompanying them with tangible steps, such as the resolution to recognize the Serbian genocide in Kosovo, which has been demanded for years.
