Bajrami: It would be hypocritical to protest against Kurti after negotiating with him

LDK MP Hykmete Bajrami has criticized the way the opposition and her party have positioned themselves regarding political developments and talks with the Vetëvendosje Movement.

According to her, it would be contradictory for the LDK leader to hold negotiations with Prime Minister Albin Kurti in the evening while the party organized a protest against him the following morning.

“It would simply have been hypocrisy if the chairman himself, along with two others, had gone to talks with Kurti in the evening and we had protested in the morning,” Bajrami said.

She said that there had been differing opinions within the LDK regarding the issue. Bajrami pointed out that it was contradictory to claim that a violation had occurred while, at the same time, continuing negotiations with the party accused of committing it.

The MP stressed that the LDK should continue its opposition activities and address the issues for which citizens had voted for it.

“I think we should continue to act as the opposition, because we were elected to show people what is happening with their money, their taxes, laws and regulations,” she said.

Bajrami said that Vetëvendosje’s offer to the LDK included three ministries and the post of deputy prime minister. She added that LDK leader Lumir Abdixhiku had also made the proposal public through the media.

According to her, the proposal was not acceptable to the LDK, as the party has 18 MPs and around one-third of the opposition’s electoral strength.

“Mathematically, at the very least, we should have been entitled to one-third of the government, plus one of the senior positions, considering that VV controls Parliament,” Bajrami said.
