This Thursday, Democratic Party leader Sali Berisha spoke to reporters outside Parliament, making allegations about the activities of the state-owned company KAYO and saying he was convinced that arms smuggling and trafficking were involved.

During his statement, Berisha said military equipment is purchased from war zones and Albania is then presented as the country of manufacture.

“This is outright smuggling; the purchases are made from a war zone, which is unacceptable. The country of purchase is changed, Albania is presented as the manufacturing country, and the prime minister invests while claiming that we are producing the weapon, but in reality we are producing nothing, and the weapons are transported to a war zone. To the credit of those employees of the relevant Ukrainian ministry, they say, ‘We purchase through tenders.’ Meanwhile, Rama and his company say, ‘What is a tender?’ So, we are dealing with a major scandal. I assure you that every week you will hear about scandals like this. It is arms trafficking, I assure you. If certain national and international rules are not observed in the movement of weapons, then we are dealing with arms smuggling and trafficking,” the Democratic leader said.

He stated that the opposition would pursue the issue both in Parliament and internationally.

“We will make every effort within Parliament, and we will make every effort internationally to highlight the serious threat this person poses to NATO, the region and Albania,” Sali Berisha said.
