Arben Fetai Appointed North Macedonia’s Special Envoy to the European Union in Brussels

Arben Fetai, former deputy prime minister for good governance, confirmed today that the Government of North Macedonia has appointed him Special Envoy to the European Union, based in Brussels, Telegrafi Macedonia reports.

In his statement, Fetai described the appointment as a great honor, but also an even greater responsibility. He emphasized that he would carry out the role with hard work and dedication, expressing his conviction that North Macedonia’s place is in the EU and that the country must have a European future.

Announcing the start of a new chapter in his service to the country’s European integration, Fetai said the decision to appoint him was made at yesterday’s session of the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia.

According to him, the role entrusted to him includes working to advance the country’s EU integration process, strengthening political support within European institutions and member states, and helping to overcome political and diplomatic challenges. He also aims to ensure that North Macedonia’s voice is heard more strongly and has a greater presence both in Brussels and in European capitals.

Fetai said he was taking on the role following a long career in Brussels and the experience he gained in the Government of the Republic of North Macedonia, where, as he put it, he demonstrated his commitment to the country’s European prospects. He underscored his firm conviction that North Macedonia’s future lies in the EU.

Finally, Fetai thanked the Prime Minister and the Government for placing their trust in him, emphasizing that the journey toward Brussels continues with determination, partnership and full confidence in the European future.

Parliament approved Fetai’s resignation in June, and since then there had been speculation that he might take up a role in Brussels. /Telegrafi
