Another Blow for Ali Ahmeti as Blerim Idrizi Leaves DUI

The Democratic Union for Integration is facing another significant departure. Blerim Idrizi has resigned from his position as a member of the party’s General Council and announced that he is ending all political involvement within the party.

In a statement addressed to colleagues, supporters and DUI members, Idrizi explained that his decision stemmed from personal reasons but also had a principled dimension.

According to Idrizi, it no longer makes sense for him to hold the position, and he believes the time has come for new activists to assume the responsibilities, as they may be able to make a more productive contribution under the current circumstances.

The former senior party official also addressed the effects of the defeat in the local elections and the restructuring process within local branches, emphasizing that he no longer considers his participation in DUI’s governing bodies justified.

Idrizi recalled that throughout his political career, he had acted with honesty, openness and determination, while also mentioning his confrontation with what he described as smear campaigns and attempts to damage his personal image.

Blerim Idrizi’s decision to step down comes at a sensitive time for DUI, which is facing political costs and internal restructuring, deepening concerns about the party’s organizational health following its disappointing result in the local elections.

His departure is a clear indication that dissatisfaction and internal shifts within DUI’s structures remain present and show no signs of stopping.
