Alliance for Albanians Calls for Immediate Action on Breast Cancer Screening

The Alliance for Albanians has taken a firm stance on the state of the breast cancer screening program, calling on the Ministry of Health to take immediate measures to ensure regular and effective services for all women across the country.

In a press release, the Alliance for Albanians noted that while developed countries are expanding their early breast cancer detection initiatives, women in North Macedonia continue to face obstacles, uncertainty, and a system that, according to the party, is not functioning. The Alliance for Albanians stressed that time is a decisive factor in malignant diseases and that any delay in diagnosis could have serious consequences for patients’ health.

“In the case of cancer, a one-month delay can come at a very high cost. Detection in the early stages significantly increases the chances of successful treatment, and institutions are obliged to ensure that screening is accessible and functional for every woman,” the statement said.

The Alliance for Albanians called on the Ministry of Health to put the breast cancer screening program into full operation without delay, schedule regular examination appointments, and make the results public promptly.

The Alliance for Albanians reiterated that women’s well-being must be an institutional priority and that the responsible authorities must intervene urgently to ensure an operational system for the rapid detection of this disease.

“There is no room for games with women’s health and lives. The government has an obligation to act, not remain silent,” the Alliance for Albanians’ statement concluded.
