Alket Rizai involved in armed clash in Greece, police launch search for him, how he got out of prison

The Albanian Alket Rizai, a former associate of Greece’s most-wanted man Vasilis Paleokostas and twice escaped from prison by helicopter, was involved in the shooting incident at a beach bar in Anavyssos, Athens, in the early hours of this morning.

From analysis of footage that police were able to view only late in the afternoon, they determined that one of the people involved in the beach bar incident was Alket Rizai, who had been released from Domokos Prison on leave.

Regarding the timeline of the case, police received a call about shots at the scene at 5:15 a.m. When police arrived there, they found no one, only two shell casings and blood stains.

Later, they were informed by the Kalyvia Health Center that a 20-year-old Greek man, with a wound from glass fragments to his ankle, and a 41-year-old Pakistani man, with a bullet wound to his calf, had been taken there for first aid.

Statements were taken from both, who turned out to be employees of the business, but they gave different versions of the incident, as did the business owner.

Finally, as it turned out, at one point, while most of the people had left the bar, the owner turned down the music. Then Alket Rizai, who was there with two of his friends, went out to the parking lot and blasted music loudly from the car.

The owner went out and scolded them, because he feared the police would be called over the noise.

Then they argued and other people from the business came outside. At one point during the argument, Alket Rizai apparently pulled out a gun and fired into the air, and then an Afghan man who came out of the bar also opened fire; he was possibly working as a bodyguard.

From the shooting, bullets ricocheted and wounded two other employees of the business.

Alket Rizai and his two friends got into the car and sped away, while the Afghan, who is also wanted, fled the scene. The owner has so far been arrested for giving a false statement about the incident.

It is noted that on Monday morning, Alket Rizai must return to Domokos Prison, otherwise he will be declared a fugitive, and this has already prompted police mobilization.
