Aliti: We sought justice, but received disappointment; the Special Court turned into a court of shame

In Skopje, a protest march is being held under the motto “Not in My Name,” organized in support of former leaders of the Kosovo Liberation Army.

During his speech, the chairman of the Organizing Council, Rafiz Aliti, described the Specialist Chambers as an institution of injustice and crime, saying that expectations of justice had been replaced by disappointment.

Aliti emphasized that the people of Kosovo had paid a high price for freedom, while, in his view, the sentencing of the freedom fighters constitutes a great disgrace and damages the image of the state of Kosovo.

“I salute Commander Abaz Gjuka-Ali Ahmeti, the families of the martyrs, war invalids and all the participants. We have gathered here to demand justice and oppose the political justice being applied by the Hague Court, which was established by Moscow and Belgrade. It has turned into a court of shame, keeping the freedom fighters away from their families,” Aliti declared.

He said that the decisions against former KLA members were based on false testimony and conversations held in cafés, while the initial trust in this court had turned into deep disappointment.

“Kosovo and its liberation war have been tarnished. Let no one forget that Kosovo’s freedom was won through great sacrifices: there were victims among children, women and the elderly, as well as people who were imprisoned and expelled. These are the wounds of a people, while Serbian criminals did not face justice. This is a betrayal that we will not forget,” he said. /Telegrafi/
