Aliçkaj reacts harshly to Enver Hasani over the Ohrid Annex: Whose side is he on?

Albanian activist in the United States, Agim Aliçkaj, has reacted to Professor Enver Hasani’s statements regarding the 2023 Ohrid Annex.

Hasani described the annex as “Kosovo’s gravest and most disgraceful international obligation since the 1945 Prizren Assembly,” while saying that it constitutes “an act of treason against Kosovo, without a doubt.” The professor also expressed his firm belief that Prime Minister Albin Kurti “is running away from the Ohrid Annex.”

These assessments have been strongly rejected by Aliçkaj, who accuses Hasani of either deliberately lying or having no knowledge of diplomacy.

In a reaction on Facebook, reported by “Bota sot,” Aliçkaj defended the agreement and Prime Minister Kurti’s position, arguing that they are in Kosovo’s interest.

In his full reaction, Aliçkaj writes that Enver Hasani is either knowingly lying or does not understand diplomacy.

According to him, Prime Minister Albin Kurti is afraid of nothing and has no reason to fear the Brussels Agreement-Ohrid Annex.

Aliçkaj believes that, under the current circumstances, this is the best agreement that could have been reached and that it represents a smart maneuver by Prime Minister Albin Kurti.

He claims that the document’s first points are catastrophic for racist Serbia because, according to him, it is obliged to recognize Kosovo’s borders and not obstruct its membership in the UN and other international organizations.

Aliçkaj argues that placing the other agreements from point 7 onward, particularly the one concerning the Serb Association, moves them into second place, after Kosovo’s recognition. According to him, this creates an opportunity for them to be fully adapted to the Constitution of Kosovo as a unitary state.

He calls Serbia’s demands, as well as those of some international actors, that the Serb Association be placed first unfair and nonsensical. Aliçkaj adds that when they face capable and determined leaders such as Albin Kurti, they are left without arguments.

The activist says he is pleased that citizens are not giving their votes to the opposition, claiming that it would submit to international pressure to establish the Serb Association before recognition of independence.
