Albulena Haxhiu appreciates the contribution of former political prisoners in a meeting with their association’s representatives

Representatives of the Association of Former Political Prisoners of Kosovo were received today in a meeting by the acting President of the Republic, Albulena Haxhiu.

At the center of the discussions was the association’s work to protect historical memory, as well as the necessity of documenting the violence and torture that the Serbian regime inflicted on thousands of Albanian prisoners during decades of struggle for freedom. This information was made public by the official announcement.

Also during the meeting, the difficulties that this association is facing were addressed. The acting President pledged to the representatives that, within the competencies of the institution she leads, she will support projects aimed at documenting and protecting historical memory.

On this occasion, Albulena Haxhiu emphasized her deep respect for the extraordinary sacrifice of former political prisoners in Kosovo’s journey towards liberation and independence, the announcement conveys.
