Kosovo’s Prime Minister Albin Kurti held his first meeting with the President of the United States, Donald Trump.
Kurti himself announced the news in a Facebook post, saying that he thanked Trump for increasing investment in defense within NATO, an alliance Kosovo also aims to join.

The meeting took place during the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly.
“As part of the High-Level Week of the United Nations General Assembly, I had the honor of meeting for the first time with the President of the United States, Mr. Donald J. Trump,” Kurti wrote.
He stressed that during the conversation, he thanked the U.S. president for increasing defense investments in NATO, which, according to him, Kosovo should also be part of.
Kurti also underscored the importance of relations between Kosovo and the United States, describing the latter as the Republic of Kosovo’s main ally, irreplaceable partner and special friend.
