Air traffic over Albania has been temporarily suspended due to a suspected technical problem with Albcontrol’s radar system, preventing the normal monitoring of flights.

As a safety measure, no air movements were authorized in Albanian airspace for several minutes. Aircraft were not allowed either to take off or land until the systems were fully restored.
The fault could cause delays in departures and landings at Rinas Airport, holding patterns for aircraft already in flight, schedule changes and, if the disruption continues, temporary route diversions.
Meanwhile, work is underway to repair the problem, restore the system to normal operation and resume air traffic.
The suspension was imposed to ensure navigational safety and maintain separation between aircraft until the monitoring system returns to normal operation.
